About the founder – Christine Bayliss

Christine has overcome the barriers of living with dyslexia to be a successful civil servant in the Department for Education in Whitehall. She left school at 16 with a human biology O Level, joined the police service at 19, bought her hotel business at 28 and graduated with a degree in social policy and administration from London School of Economics aged 40. She left her job at the Department for Education in 2015 where she headed up the free schools pre-opening team working with the Regional Schools Commissioner for the South East and South London, Dominic Herrington.

“My time as a police officer made me realise how important education is. I came to realise that many of the people I dealt with – some victims but mostly offenders – had in some way been failed by the education system. This was particularly catastrophic when other support systems, family or community were missing. Since then I’ve had a driving passion to make a difference, whether it’s by serving as chair of governors of a local school or through my work in the Department for Education”.
