“When we were looking for specialist support to develop the online resources for the work on Reputation, Brand Management and Marketing for the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership C:BECS was highly recommended to us. They have certainly lived up to that recommendation. Christine and Antonia have produced a first rate set of resources, highly relevant to the executive leader role. The materials include written information and guidance, case studies, online exercises and activities to be carried out in the face to face sessions. These materials were supported by podcasts and video interviews. Christine kept in regular contact while the materials were being developed to check against the initial specification and all materials were delivered ahead of schedule. The feedback from participants on the materials has been extremely positive.”

“Christine at CBECS turned our fledgling ideas and vision into the reality of two free school applications. She quickly grasped what we wanted to do and led us through the process with an excellent plan that kept us on track through a very tight eight week period. She did the work but made sure it remained our application. She helped us quickly develop communication publicly and particularly to parents of potential pupils at the schools. She had a day by day plan that kept us on track even though we felt very busy with other work too. Her work has given us confidence that we have submitted applications that do justice to what we can offer and the vision we have for these schools.”

“In 2017 we asked CBECS to provide marketing services for the 2018 intake to Trinity Academy, a new academy that opened in 2014. Christine developed a recruitment strategy that included: improving existing open events, introduction of printed A5 leaflets for primary schools, systematic data collection and follow up emails to prospective families, the management of a new academy Facebook page focused on student recruitment, production of short videos to promote both the opening of phase 1 of the new build and the application process. I agreed targets with CBECS to increase the intake from 60 new pupils in 2017 to at least 100 applications and pupils on roll in 2018.

Following national offer day when all 120 available places were offered, Christine and the team were able to quickly adapt to new activity around converting those offers into acceptances. They did this by promoting new opportunities to visit Trinity, personal phone calls to applicants and email reminders about the process involved in accepting a place. The outturn position is that Trinity Academy welcomed 120 new pupils in September 2018 and currently has a waiting list for places.

CBECS support enabled me to free up limited senior leadership team time for other duties. When coupled with the extra grant funding generated by the increased pupil recruitment, CBECS fees represented very good value for money. On completion of the contract, Christine provided me with a written report with evidence-based recommendations for a recruitment strategy to be run in-house in future years. ”

“We recently commissioned a Review of Curriculum and Financial Planning from CBECS. Working with Dafydd took the pressure off something that was quite crucial for our small MAT; it was really helpful to have an external review. He managed to draw together all the elements of what we are trying to achieve; trustees will find this an excellent tool for discussion. It felt a very professional process whilst supportive and the report reads as though we have been really understood. Having Dafydd work at the Trust for some of the work was also an advantage; it felt as if we were part of the process and it was not done to us.”

Jan TaylorCEO The Pilgrim Multi-Academy Trust

“We were really appreciative of C:BECS input and support to structure our successful Teaching School application. Christine gave us the understanding of what was required and a framework to provide the information. Her experience, input, guidance and support was invaluable and we would definitely work with her again.”

“C:BECS has assisted us in project management and free school bidding, in particular engagement with local communities where we are considering opening a new school. I have been impressed by the thoroughness of the planning and the comprehensive range of stakeholders and influencers Christine has mustered on each occasion. She is pro-active in her approach, persistent when she needs to be, and happy to tackle difficult conversations courteously and persuasively. Her focus is on getting the job done, and done well, and she goes the extra mile to achieve that on our behalf.”

“In preparation for our DfE Free School interview, Christine provided me with first class written and verbal briefing on: the assessment process, the main issues and the likely questions we would be asked. There were no surprises at the subsequent interview - all the questions posed were covered by Christine’s briefing. I felt well prepared and able to give good answers to all that was asked of me. Although we weren’t successful this time, I strongly recommend Christine's support for proposer groups. She has an excellent understanding of the application process and what the DfE are looking for from applicants”

“Christine clearly has a great deal of experience in the free school and academies sector. She has strong interpersonal skills, is very good with a wide range of people. She is determined, purposeful, competent and focused. Christine is good at ‘translating’ the department’s methods and culture and ways of working to outsiders like us. She set out very clearly the various hurdles and objectives and was supportive towards our journey to open Trinity Academy.”

Dennis SewellChair of Governors Trinity Academy Lambeth

“Christine is highly organised and efficient. Her experience of working at high levels of influence nationally and locally has given Christine insight into process and procedure that will move policy into practice. She is able to cut through complex issues and chart a strategic direction. In doing so she brings people with her and enables them to see what is possible, being a professional ally for school leaders facing new challenges.”
